Students invited to United Kingdom Youth Parliament (UKYP) 2015

On the 10th November, 2015 Wirral Hospitals’ School students, attended the annual Youth Parliament at Wallasey Town Hall.

This is a full council meeting chaired by the Mayor and students from all Wirral schools are invited to debate with councillors and peers on matters which are important to young people.

The subjecst debated in this year’s council were Mate Crime, Safety in the Community, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Discrimination, Child Sexual Exploitation and Sexting and the Prosecution of Children and Young People.

Our own student Kara Gardiner sat at the side of the Mayor during the proceedings after agreeing to act as Special Advisor and all Wirral Hospitals’ School students took the opportunity to stand and speak, giving their opinion on the important issues raised

The students involved were congratulated by the Mayor and Wirral Councillors for their debating and listening skills at the end of the evening.
