Medical Mavericks STEM Event

On Monday 27th June Wirral Hospitals School welcome the team from Medical Mavericks as part of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) curriculum. Medical Mavericks promise a fun and inspiring day for our students as they investigate the medical world with a range of interactive experiments using the latest technology. The day will include hands on workshop using real medical kit in the classroom to promote healthy lifestyles. Throughout the day students will have the opportunity to:

·         Use the ultrasound machine to see inside their body

·         See inside their eye with an iPhone scan

·         Record and print an ECG from their heart

·         Measure their lung volume with a spirometer

·         Try key hole surgery on a training device used by surgeons

·         Test hearing and reflexes

·         Experience ageing with an ageing suit

·         Watt Bike for power output

Students will not be following their normal timetabled lessons on this day, although our start, finish and lunchtime will remain as normal. The day will be a great opportunity to inspire students on different STEM subjects. If you have any questions or would like further information please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Dickson.
