Examination and Assessment Results 2018

As a hospital school, WHS is exempt from the requirements of the National Curriculum. However, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum across subjects and qualifications that meets the needs of our students. We offer a number of GCSEs which match mainstream schools for ease of transfer into or out of WHS, along with a variety of other qualifications to ensure that all students have the opportunity to be successful and obtain qualifications which will ease their transition into Post-16 education. Given the health needs of our students, our first priority is to match their curriculum needs and it is therefore not appropriate to insist that they study the English Baccalaureate. We do, however, offer EBacc qualifications. Despite most of our students being too unwell to study 8 level 2 qualifications, we calculate, and report on, Attainment 8. However, we do not use Progress 8, as there aren’t any national figures for similar schools to which we can compare.
