Healthy Eating

 EATING A BALANCED DIET

We are recommended to judge how much of each food type to eat using the Eat Well Plate.

 

 

Suggestions for healthy eating:

Eating with the family

If possible you should try to have dinner around a table with your family, this allows you to talk and get to know each other better and speak about anything you like. It is even better if you cook the meal together, this gives everybody a feeling of unity and makes them feel wanted. You make a decision as a group rather than just saying how much of the meal YOU want.

 

A healthy recipe-

CHICKEN AND EGG FRIED RICE WITH VEG

Ingredients:

Diced chicken breast

As much rice as you want (wholegrain is better for you.)

Handful of carrots, peas and sweetcorn (optional)

1 egg

2 Tbsp. of soy sauce

Method:

•Pour your rice into boiling, salty water.

•Put some oil into a wok, get it really hot! Put the diced chicken breast into the wok and get some colour on it (keep tossing/stirring it as it can burn easily.)

•Add the carrots, peas and sweetcorn.

•Strain the rice and pour it into the wok.

•Pour some soy sauce in.

•Once this is cooked, put all of the hot food into a bowl.

•Gently whisk your egg for a few seconds, pour this straight in the wok.

•Keep stirring this because it can stick, tip everything out of the bowl back into the wok with the egg, mix this until combined.

•Put everything in a bowl with a drizzle of oil over the top, Serve.

 

A personal example of living healthily-

I am starting to lift weights and use the treadmill now. I wanted to start lifting weights so I could defend myself. I sometimes go on walks and I am trying to find healthy foods to make. I do PE in school and I also enjoy sushi. I really want to make my own.
