Art, Craft & Design

KS3 Art, Craft and Design
Pupils will be introduced to a wide range of techniques, materials and artists from different cultures and times. They will be taught about the formal elements of colour theory, tone, texture, line, pattern, collage, perspective and proportion amongst others. They will experiment with 2D and 3D techniques and will use the work of artists and art movements to increase their knowledge, skills and understanding in this subject. Some of the topics covered are:

Superheroes and the Comic book
African Art

KS4 Art Craft and Design
Pupils will study the AQA Unendorsed Art, Craft and Design GCSE. It is a two year course with 60% of the award for coursework and 40% of the award is for an externally set assignment provided in the January of Y11. Pupils will build upon the knowledge skills and understanding learnt at KS3 and will improve their ability to analyse the work of artists, develop their ideas, experiment with materials and techniques, improve their recording ability and produce personal outcomes.
