English Literature
English Literature is taught throughout both Key Stages and is sat as a GCSE exam in Y11 by all students whose health allows it and whose post-16 pathway indicates that they would benefit from this additional GCSE.
Students follow the AQA English Literature course, which is assessed via two examinations at the end of the course. Paper One is 1 hour 45 minutes long and Paper 2 is 2 hours 15 minutes long. Both assess students’ critical reading skills.
During the two-year course, students will study a Shakespeare play, a 20th Century novel, a 20th Century play and a range of poetry both contemporary and historical
